The Heritage Behind the Name

In the regional Teochew dialect, the name "Da Wu Ye" is a vivid description of the tea's physical character. Local farmers followed a practical tradition, naming the tree after what they saw in the garden.

  • Da (Big): Refers to the robust, broad structure of the leaves, which stand out significantly against more delicate Dancong varieties.
  • Wu (Dark): Describes the deep, lustrous emerald hue. This "inky" appearance is a result of high chlorophyll levels and meticulous charcoal roasting, giving the dry leaves a beautiful, frosted sheen.
  • Ye (Leaf): Simply signifies the foliage of this legendary tea tree.

Flavor & Character

Aroma: An elegant bouquet of Gardenia and fresh Sugarcane sweetness that rises immediately from the cup.

Palate: Refreshing and balanced. It offers the same "light-aroma" charm as Ya Shi Xiang but with a distinctive, crisp sweetness that lingers long after the first sip.

Liquor: A bright, golden-yellow infusion that feels as smooth as silk on the tongue.
